On Isaiah 30:18-22

With every failure, every battle with the enemy, we have the tendency to believe, “This is it. Now, I’ve done it. I’ve finally found the limit of Christ’s ability to forgive.” Yet, no, instead we find the ever present arms of Christ ever ready and able to bless us with mercy and grace.

"Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation."

"

Oh, Mother, I cannot tell you, I cannot describe how I long to be a missionary; to carry the Glad Tidings to the poor, perishing sinners; to spend and be spent for Him who died for me! Think, Mother, of twelve millions–a number so great that it is impossible to realize it–yes, twelve million souls in China, every year, passing without God and without hope into eternity…Oh, let us look with compassion on this multitude! God has been merciful to us; let us be like Him.

It is easy to talk of leaving all for Christ, but when it comes to the proof–it is only as we stand “complete in Him” we can go through with it. God be with you and bless you and give you so to realize the preciousness of Jesus that you may with for nothing but to know Him…even in the fellowship of His sufferings.

(maybe)daily thought: loneliness

Loneliness is the pain of separation felt not because we merely lack human connection or social interaction, but rather because a much greater spiritual reality exists; that our sin has separated us from God. Our loneliness then isn’t simply an indication that we need to “get out more”, but it is God’s megaphoned message to our soul that our actual need is, and has always been, Jesus and it is calling us to the One who fills all in all.

(maybe)daily thought

The root of cold, dead Christian religion is a mind that knows a lot about God partnered with a heart that doesn’t know Him at all.

ask me

I just learned about the “Ask Me” ability that tumblr has available. I figured it might be fun to include on the ol’ blog. Click and ask away.

5 lessons from 5 months

I’ve been a pastor for just about 5 months now. These are a few things I’ve think I’ve been learning along the way:

  1. Being a pastor is much more than simply keeping systems and programs of ministry running.
  2. Being a pastor is a lot like being a soldier at war.
  3. Like Paul, I believe 1 Timothy 1:15-17 is true of me too and that really makes things difficult sometimes(most of the time).
  4. Neglecting to pursue God first and live my life with a constant view towards the Gospel equates to misery and makes the ability to pastor an impossibility.
  5. God’s grace is greater than I could have ever imagined.
