I'm Bailey. These are (maybe)daily posts from life, thought, faith in Jesus, and random stuff from the internet.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”- Jeremiah 17:9
The heart will stop at nothing in order to be its own god. If it can transform faith in Christ to some strange theory or mode of religion, it will easily do so before willfully submitting to worship and devotion.
“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you…” - Ezekiel 36:25-26

Truthfully, I’m a mess. But, that’s why I’m a Christian. Jesus cleans messes like me.
and for all the old school scene kids who recognize the title *cough @mikeymcfadden, @kpflynn, & @mellieboozer cough* here’s a little gem for you:
Come in, my child. Come in. There is nothing more to do. The work has already been done.
As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God! - Psalm 40:17
Admitting our failure and weakness to follow God’s ways reminds us of our need for the One who is mighty to save and steadfast in love. We are forced to remember that God is our only source of help, and trusting Jesus our only place to find peace. Confession stirs up our love for God by reminding us that we cannot live this life on our own, but need Him along every step of the way.
The truth is every morning I wake up with a crisis of faith.
God, will I trust you today? Will you be my everything?
or…
Will I run to the arms of other lovers? Will I seek my comfort and joy in things that fail?
It’s one of the most sanctifying moments (or hours) of my day.
To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul. O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame… Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. - Psalm 25:1-5
